Look out for the Red squirrel, he's a regular visitor to Allonby. He loves monkey nuts and will often come down to the kitchen door for his daily ration.

Toasty warm - everywhere

We've been very busy over the last few weeks upgrading the central heating system at Allonby cottage. The electric heaters in the sitting room and bedrooms have all been replaced with radiators making the cottage a lot easier to keep warm during winter months. As always the cost of heating is included in the rental cost of the cottage, so there's no worrying about any extra costs during your stay.

The view from the upstairs bedrooms at Allonby Cottage has seen an improvement in the past few months. New double glazed windows have been installed, you can now lounge around in bed watching all those adventurous types out on the water through clear windows.

Stargazing

The Galloway forest becomes the UK's first Dark Sky park. Light pollution in Dumfries and Galloway is so low that it's a great place for a spot of star-gazing.

Google comes to Kippford!

Allonby Cottage is now viewable on Google Streetview. We've changed a few things since they visited: the front garden is now beautifully gravelled and planted, there is also a picnic bench (just like next door). To see the cottage click here

Winter renovations at Allonby

We've been busy over winter replacing all the windows at the back of the cottage with brand new double glazed units. A smart and energy efficient addition to Allonby.

Seasons greetings to all our existing and new customers, we have big plans for Allonby this year including replacing more of the downstairs windows and doors with new wood framed double glazed units. Perfect for keeping the cottage toasty warm.

Royal Visit to Kippford

Allonby Cottage was the perfect place to see HRH Prince Andrew when he came to unveil the new lifeboat at the RNLI station right next door. The sun shone for his brief visit which ended with a demonstration of the new Lifeboat at the Solway Yacht Club's pier.

Wendy House

The latest addition to Allonby is a beautiful wooden Wendy House at the top of the garden. A perfect hideaway for the little ones on those lazy days staying at the cottage.
